Ange Postecoglou Unsure About Harry Kane’s Future
New Tottenham Hotspur coach Ange Postecoglou is looking forward to working with skipper Harry Kane, but he’s not totally sure about what the latter’s future looks like.
Last week, it emerged that Bayern Munich were keen to sign Kane, whose contract with Spurs expires in 2024. Per reports, the German outfit had submitted a £60-million bid for the 29-year-old striker – now, they have apparently submitted a bid worth between £68-70 million (including add-ons).
In a press conference on Monday, 10 July, Postecoglou said he wants Kane to be “involved here [at Spurs]” when he returns to pre-season training tomorrow, Wednesday 12 July.
“I just want to introduce myself to Harry, give him my vision, get an understanding from him over what his vision is and try to be successful,” the 57-year-old football boss explained.
Regarding Kane’s future, however, he admitted, “No, I haven’t had any assurances, and I wouldn’t expect any assurances because with these kinds of things you’re never dealing in definites or certainties.”
Instead, Postecoglou wants to focus on the here and now: “If I spend too much time worrying about the impact that it may have either way, I’m going to miss trying to build a team because ultimately that’s what’s going to make us successful.”
